Over
3 decades ago a good friend, Dennis Krueger and I discovered a little book
hidden in a little off-the-beaten-path bookstore in Albuquerque, New
Mexico. The book was titled, “None
Dare call it Conspiracy.” It was a
book about a powerful conspiracy of the super rich families that controlled the
world, manipulated governments, started wars for the good of business in the
best Milo Minderbinder fashion, and controlled governments, kings, and world
currencies in order to keep enriching the same old deep pocketed aristocracy
for the past 100 years. Imagine
that. It made for curious
conversation back in those days.
Many
wealthy world families, the book said, ruled over us humans for their own greed
and gain. They controlled
everything but the weather. The Rothschild’s, the Rockefellers, and many more
notable rich world families had left their fingerprints all over this powerful
and history-making group. The
“Illuminati”, they were sometimes called. The book cited an example where a
part of the Rothchild family in Europe financed the Axis in World War I while
their cousins also in Europe financed the Allied Forces. So each faction of the Rothchild clan,
it was said, financed the war machinery of each opposing side during the
war. It was good for
business. Everybody won.
Today
world government and policy is hard to understand. Many Americans believe there
is a conspiracy afoot. The Obama Administration and the newly-elected Democrat
Congress ran on the platform that they would clean up Washington DC and all the
corruption in big government that cost Americans big money and our soldiers
their lives in wars needlessly fought. But as many Americans grow weary after Obama has been in office for
almost 2 years, many say that there is no real difference between Republicans
and Democrats. No matter who is in
office, the gnawing evidence shows that big government continues to grow while
the private sector continues to ride the rails of a failed economy and economic
hard times. Lost houses. Lost jobs. Lost hope.
Obama
promised us the world, many Americans feel, and he has delivered very little
other than Band Aid attention to shore up an ongoing disastrous economy with
jobs falling like flies each month that passes. He strengthened the Patriot Act so that he could continue
the Bush tradition of wiretapping us without court authority or permission. He continues to affix signing
statements to duly-passed bills in Congress as Bush did, which nullifies and
changes the very bills he signs. So the separation of branches of government continues to be contaminated
by a dictator-like Unitary Executive. And Obama promised to bring America back, a free country, a
democracy. Obama promised to
restore our right to habeas corpus; he didn’t. Congress didn’t. Nobody did.
The
Democrats took control of both houses in the last General Election because they
promised to clean up government, too. Americans were fed up in the waning days of the Bush Administration by
many hard and simple truths. Bush
had invaded two countries, Iraq by scaring the American people into believing
that Saddam Hussein was in cahoots with al Qaeda and Osama bin Laden in
attacking the Twin Towers and killing over 3,000 innocent American
civilians. Bush said that Saddam
had weapons of mass destruction pointed in our direction. He lied. He also said that Saddam had tried to buy enriched yellow
cake Uranium from Niger. He lied
again. He knew that the British
intelligence had officially condemned that bit of information as bogus. But against our very own CIA Intel
reports that Bush had previous to making his speech, Bush knew the truth. That the Saddam Niger Yellow Cake
affair was bogus and a lie was irrefutable, but Bush went ahead with his speech
in his state of the union address, saying that indeed, Saddam Hussein was
attempting to buy Yellow Cake in Africa. And later he said he would do it again, given the same
circumstances. That statement
proved that Bush was an admitted liar. Well of course, right on the heels of
being attacked with our own planes, the American people were in a hot revenge
mode so most Americans believed George W. Bush at the time and approved of his
attacking Iraq and Afghanistan.
Later
Special Prosecutor Fitzgerald tried and convicted Scooter Libby of perjury in
the Valerie Plame federal trial to determine who exposed the secret identity of
Ms. Plame and why. Well Libby was
Cheney’s top aide. The Press for
many months dogged the notion that the White House had “offed” Valerie Plame to
get even with her husband Joe Wilson. See, Wilson had made a special trip to Niger to see if there was any
truth to Bush’s assertion on world TV that Saddam Hussein had attempted to buy
Yellow Cake Uranium from Niger. It
was completely false, Wilson reported. So Plame’s secret identity to spy on those in terrorist activity cells
was revealed by somebody. Most of
America and the consensus of the Press felt that it was a payback from the Bush
administration for Wilson’s giving the White House a black eye as deluxe
liars. So Scooter Libby was
convicted of lying on the witness stand (perjury) and was sentenced to do 2 and
a half years time in federal prison. Right up until the last minute before Scooter had to report to federal
prison, Bush commuted his sentence. This outraged many Americans. We felt like America had been seized by a dictator who preempted the
legislative process by changing laws duly passed with a signing statement, a
dictator who had the audacity to commit treason and off our own secret agents
working against terrorism, and finally, a dictator who protected his
lieutenants like Scooter Libby who did the dirty work in exposing Valerie Plame
to get even with her husband, Joe Wilson for exposing the Bush Administration
as a pack of liars whose lies started wars. Scooter Libby Scandal
We
felt helpless, like a big hand was inside the Bush puppet, controlling his
every move to further the interests of some outside sinister forces, not the
American people and in preserving our system of government. And as a backlash against the
Bush/Cheney borrowing and spending us into wars based upon lies about WMDs, the
American people elected Obama and Democrats in both Houses of Congress. We believed the Democrats would bring
us back our country, to deliver us from the evil of greed and personal interest
groups where a no-bid government contract during Bush’s wars of lies would
allow you to sell a million hammers to Uncle Sam for $500 each. But Obama did not keep his
promises. Guantanamo is still open
as America’s commitment to torture human beings. Obama promised to close it. As soon as the new Democratic Congress was convened, Nancy
Pelosi, House Speaker, took impeachment off the table. That’s right, Bush nor Cheney would be
investigated nor tried for war crimes for their lies or their attacks on the people
of Iraq, people who never harmed us. Or for wrongfully taking America to war
and borrowing and spending the future of 10 generations to pay for it. Say
what? Impeachment off the
table?? They ran on setting the
books straight and tough talk on making the Bush people pay for destroying our
dollar and putting America in serious financial peril due to the 4 Trillion
dollars borrowed to finance the wars. But when Pelosi’s gavel banged down for the first time the Democrats did
a U-turn. They got amnesia as to
the promises they made to prosecute wrong-doers from head to toe in the Bush
slime that posed as defenders of the public trust. We couldn’t even get Alfredo Gonzales’s emails to show that
he tried to stack the federal attorneys’ roster to favor Bush ideas so that the
law could be bent to further Bush/Cheney policies, no matter how corrupt. But
the Democrats did not seem to care to pursue justice. They were all hat and no cattle. And still are.
It
is no wonder that the American people drifted in total confusion for answers as
to what their government truly stood for. Americans out of work and having lost their homes see our government as
ever-expanding with the best benefits for themselves the world has ever known.
Great retirement pay, great medical, and they have voted themselves pay raises
each year when Americans simply wish they had a job.
The
financial meltdown began at the end of Bush’s term, and Obama inherited the
wind. Obama, many have observed,
is only putting out the fires raging that Bush started by borrowing and
spending. Yet many see the buyout
of American private firms like Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae and General Motors as
a significant world change from what America used to be. Now government is in the business of
owning private corporations. We
bailed out AIG and said that they were too big to fail because it would have
tripled the number of unemployed from what it is now with the bailout. Americans have totally lost confidence
with Wall Street for crushing the world’s sovereign nations with
derivatives. The world is bankrupt
and now other countries see American Treasuries as being a safe haven even
though we have a national debt of over 14 trillion dollars! Now that is a paradox the likes of
which the world has never seen. So
what is going on here? What force
is keeping the dishes spinning and for how long? Is all this just a bad dream? Or the manipulations of forces who know what they are doing
in collecting all the world’s wealth for themselves while eradicating much of
the human race on the lower rungs of the social and economic ladder? Did a group engaged in a world
conspiracy set all these strange forces into motion 1,000 years ago?
Americans
see a sinister hand behind the broken promises the Democrats made to change the
destructive policies of the Republicans when in power. Sometimes it looks like they’re all the
same. All cut from the same
self-serving cloth. All in service
of some higher force that is slowly sucking the core out of America and a
people that used to believe in ourselves and our government. But when you can’t see much change even
when ousting the crooks at the ballot box, then could there be a sinister force
truly in control of our government that we once thought to be a democracy? Why are there no changes when we vote
the dogs out of office? Are they
all crooks on both sides of the aisle? Are the newly-elected all on the same wink-and-nod team of a force that
rules behind the curtain and lets us believe that we really do have a democracy
of the people, by the people, and for the people? Will Toto ever be able to pull back the curtain? O, Mama, could the Illuminati be for
real?
