Neocon Tea Baggers (And Other Tempests in a Teapot)

By Mickey Walker-February 14, 2010

At the conclusion of the Convention Benjamin Franklin was asked, "What have you wrought?....He answered, "...a Republic, if you can keep it"...

Jesus help us, like in literally.  What have we let them do to our country?  How did we get into this mess?  We allowed Bush to attack foreign countries at a whim, without declaration of war by Congress, piss off the rest of the world, and thumb their noses at the voters who elected them and set them up for life.  As Americans we don’t get riled up that we were lied into war that Iraq was in cahoots with al Qaeda (they weren’t).  We don’t care that we are still boots on the ground in Iraq even after we discovered that none of the above was true!  No al Qaeda.  No WMDs.  Should we throw the bums out of Washington and convene a Continental Congress?  Should we audit the Fed, a la Ron Paul’s bill to make our country’s financial head of government accountable to the people as to where the billions went to band aid our economy and our financial survival?  Should we be concerned that our right to habeas corpus has not been restored in the first year of Obama?  Or that we are sending 50,000 more troops to Afghanistan instead of going in the other direction as he promised if we voted for him?  What do we do now?  Where to begin?

So you find that all Neocons suck and stink for ruining our economy, our dollar and our nation, and that Cheney and Bush stole billions from the Treasury and gave it to Blackwater.  But not all of it.  Halliburton got their share by buying $9.99 hammers from Wal Mart and selling them back to us for $500.00. That we spent trillions illegally on wars, mercenaries and bought way too many hammers says that we as a nation went collectively mad.  Fell and hit our heads.

Bush I, Bush II and Reagan borrowed us into a 12 Trillion dollar corner, not counting off-budget stench of dollars owed that ain’t caught up with our GAO accounts yet.  Obama is spending trillions a year more than the USA gets in tax revenues.  McCain, Palin and some of the other me first Neocons just love it.  I guess they think it’s God's work to beef up in Afghanistan, who knows?  Ron Paul deplores the Neocons and their thieving Machiavellian ways but what silver bullets does Ron Paul plan to shoot at the problem?  He plans nothing to arrest this fast-growing cancer on America that has us walking away from our houses, pink-slipped from our jobs, and Wal-Marted by the Chinese.  Ron Paul is different, I confess, but he talks too much and votes NO.  He did not support Kucinich on his beloved Constitution.  And semantics don't work anymore.  Neither does just defining the problem which I am soap-boxing on right now, I admit, but so is Paul.

Let us argue meaningfully not what is wrong with those in power, but what could set things on a better path toward recovering from the damage done for generations to come.  That's a lot harder to do, I know than pounding that old dead horse about what is wrong.  Is that why they call Ron Paul a one trick pony?  Prove to us Ron Paul, or anybody else with an opinion that you just don't like to bitch on camera.

Let’s look at this thing another way.  If Obama was innocent and honest 100%, and his Congress was, too, what would we suggest that they do right now?  First, you got to believe that people are dying every day from having no healthcare.  And some are starving and sleeping in the cold right here in the good old USA.  So what is government for in the first place?  We know that much theft and stealing is going on from insiders from both sides of the aisle, and the bucks are big.  We know that Congress feathered their own nests, but let us assume that they got hit with an honest bolt from God Almighty.  Could they do right by us at this point and solve our problems?  Could Obama do anything to help Americans who are out of work and homeless?  Could Ron Paul comfort those sleeping in the streets in LA and in the tent cities in Reno by telling them that a cradle-to-grave America is a socialistic America?  Would Jesse Ventura do us proud by unveiling all the conspiracies in the world?  Would we feel better with collapsed stomachs under the bridges knowing we were once accountants and managers with hospital and pension plans in American industry?  In other words, is KNOWING the problems that exist and are causing all this pain, of any use to Americans who trusted our government?  I am sick of it all.

About Americans who bitch.  I salute you for being so tenacious.  It helps open many an eye to what's inside the green glove working Kermit the Congressman.  Yes, we did eagerly subscribe and believe.  It's called hope.  Without it you got nothing.  My old daddy said you got to have three things in life or you are sunk: 1.  Someone to love.  2. Something to do.  and 3. Hope.

It is sad to know that government has us in a death grip.  It is heinous that it serves its own appetite and with greed at the expense of the people.  Many have said that government will be the last to turn out the lights after America falls flat on its face into anarchy.  Will roving, hungry hoards comb the remotest country places in search of food and water?  Will any of us, including we that have taken to the backwater hills be safe to live in peace growing veggies and putting them up in Kerr jars?  Will hungry people come take the jars and your coffee can gold and silver buried in your back yard?  So many seem to fancy these dire final days discussions these days that it becomes worrisome to me.  Ammunition.  Bullets.  Water.  Dry food.  You know the rhetoric.

That government will take and take as much as they can at the expense of the common man is unconscionable.  That we will be cast beaten along the roadside like the one who the Good Samaritan helped, is unthinkable.  What is government for, to hold tea parties in Washington and fly about the country to kiss babies and give speeches to be reelected?  For all show and no substance?  What have the Democrats done to deserve being elected a year ago?  How many promises have they kept?  And how like their avowed adversaries have they become?  Didn’t they think we would notice?  Americans need all that empty rhetoric like we need to sit our ass down in a fire ant bed.

What would you do in Obama's shoes, right now?  Me, I would withdraw all troops.  Screw al Qaeda overrunning Iraq.  Won't happen.  Iraqis never did cotton to al Qaeda, even though our president lied us into a goddamed war and proved the Constitution was indeed just a goddamed piece of paper by incinerating our right to habeas corpus and freedom from wiretapping without court approval.  Forget partisan trash talk.  Both sides are criminally wrong.  They need to stop selling us down the river in $700 toilet seats as a life ring.

So if we get our troops out of S Korea, will the North Koreans invade and take over the South?  Sarah Palin, pay attention.  Somebody told me today that we should pull out all our troops from Afghanistan and Iraq and put them on our southern border and shoot to kill anybody trying to cross without his papers.  Funny thing, but that advocate is an avowed Christian.  So warlike.  But Muslims seem to cook our freedom for all nachos a bit differently these days.  To many Americans a Muslim ain’t worth no more than a stray possum that wandered up to your backyard.  And surely don’t merit same rights as us Americans who stole our country from the Indians, by God.

These times are weird, I tell you.  Nobody makes any sense.  We seem to be on our last leg of what used to pass for reason and logic, and headed over the dark waterfall of despair.  Truth is, we are scared and confused.  But of what?  Is it our dark side that we fear the most?

Truth is, our country is in trouble.  Someone said that we got through a Great Depression before, and if we have to endure one again, we can get through it again.  Sounds simple enough.  But I say that in 2010 things aren’t the same.  For openers we were not the biggest debtor nation in the world back then, owing former third world countries your left testicle, your right ass cheek, and a big toe.  We are in debt over 12 Trillion dollars dudes, and going at a rate of 1.6 Trillion a year for the next 10 years in deficit spending.  That’s right, we going to spend 1.6 Trillion a year more for the next 10 years than we take in.  And that ain’t counting paying interest on the debt.  Are we there yet, daddy?  Do we begin to get it or are we too preoccupied with getting our nails done or watching the Super Bowl?

High level Chinese diplomats are taking heavy swings at the USA now about out fiscal irresponsibility and how they find us disgusting and unnecessary as a trading partner.  Well, what about Americans who buy Chinese goods at Wal Mart like a bunch of crazed jackrabbits after some loose carrots?  Don’t need you no more, Yankee snakes, goes the rhetoric…..we gonna cut off your snake head and buy our own goods ourselves now.  There is a pattern developing.  The Chinese people are prospering as we speak.  Projections are that in just two more years Chinese will own twice as many cars as are on the roads today in China.  And the scary thing is that China did not pony up to buy all our T Bills we desperately need to sell to finance our lovely borrow-and-spend policies of financial suicide invented by Reagan, Cheney, and Democrats alike. Those we gave a mandate to in 2006, remember? Remember how Cheney in a cabinet meeting said, “Ronald Reagan taught us that deficits don’t matter?”  That’s right, sports fans, we got permission to do good grasshopper now, borrow all the nuts we can consume and waste and never worry about paying it back.

A new wrinkle just appeared in the tragic soft shoe America and the Fed is performing as we speak of the way the America finances its debt.  Remember some of the dissidents who said, what would happen if we were cut off by China when we stuck our hand out for another loan?  Well, recently we failed to sell all our T Bills and Notes to China or anybody else who calls themselves a sovereign with gonads and a plane and tank or two.  No kidding, dudes, we fell short and are worse than broke.  So did we lay off the Justice Department?  Did we send all DC clerks home for a month without pay?  Did we put a freeze on congressmen junket money trips for a month?  Nope.  We, the United States of America, agreed to let the Federal Reserve Bank, the FED for short, buy the shortfall.  So what did they do to pay for the shortfall?  Simple.  They printed more money.  Say what?  That’s right, they added to the green pool of American dollars, and diluted the buying power of all the rest of us who hold dollars in good faith that the government will stand behind our very own Federal Reserve Notes with president’s faces on the front.  Do you love it?  So did our own bucks go down in value?  According to the currency FOREX markets during the last year, the dollar got hammered steadily down into the dirt and is threatening to break into free fall.  Gold’s headed for the stars, they say.  So what’s going on?  Why is the dollar getting pounded from all fronts?

Maybe we forgot the warnings our mom and dad gave us.  We borrowed too much.  It’s time to pay the piper.  Guess we better print more money.  Won’t inflation cook our fiscal goose if we do that?  Yes, but it will be a lovely fire to watch.  Even though in the end it will burn ours.

Question is, how we gonna finance our country from here on out?  We going to print more play money and pretend no crime is being committed?  We know we need to fire thousands of government workers to be sure.  We cannot afford them anymore, but how do you tell them?  How could you run them out of their gummint cubicles when they are welded to the floor of government and armed with a machine gun just daring to cut their jobs or their healthcare or retirement?  Geez, and I thought they were our own public servants, you know?

What do you do?  What do you tell old people on Social Security when the money runs out?  Will they have to sell their dignity and do the bidding of a mean daughter or son or maybe live in an awful place that mistreats them?  Will they get their medicine or proper food as bone level cost-cutting measures are taken?  Will the college demonstrator’s signs, ‘Youth in Asia’ become a reality?

Who will teach our kids that too much borrowing will destroy you and your country?  The Conservatives used to talk a good game, but now, it's every child for himself and don't worry about getting left behind because you will.  But heck, turn on the X Box and we can escape, okay?
