Real American Villains: Take Lindsey Graham and John McCain. Puhleese.

By Mickey Walker – March 1, 2009

Just listen to the Republicans bitch about Obama’s stimulus package!  Senator Lindsey Graham (R South Carolina), the very picture of a school boy playing dress-up in a suit and tie, says on camera, that there is too much pork in Obama’s stimulus package.  Sleepy-eyed and fatter than a town dog, Lindsey joins John McCain (R Arizona), a dead ringer for King of Oompa Loompa Land, in blasting Obama for a spending package they both say will bankrupt our nation and future generations.  They warn that it will hurl Americans into an abyss of debt from which we will never recover. McCain’s cadaverous face and eyes tell the camera that America cannot afford such a spending spree.  How will we pay for it?  McCain mumbles with his pasted-on, Zipperlock smile.  Geez, it’s hard to watch without upchucking.  Graham and McCain, with all the acumen of Tweedle Dee and Tweedle Dum, project a picture of self-righteousness for the camera, for they know it’s ShowTime.  Hoping no one will notice their irresponsible voting records to fund Bush’s Wars, they provide us with a classic study in the pot-calling-the-kettle-black.  Having to endure such eat-up-with-hypocritical dumbass slipping off such thin lips makes you go all slack-jawed.  I mean, really!  How dare they trash Obama!  His stimulus package is but a rescue response to Bush’s destructive Neocon borrow-and-spend agenda (of which Graham and McCain have been ringleaders).  In short, Tweedle Dee and Tweedle Dum and the Flying Monkey caused all this mess in the first place, see?  Obama’s efforts are but a last ditch rescue attempt to save what’s left of America’s financial system, family homes, and jobs. He is the Calvary to the rescue.  Obama’s plan of massive spending seeks to get America’s ass out of the economic sling put there by the likes of Bush and congressional spendthrift enablers like Graham and McCain who supported Bush’s borrow-and-spend madness for the past 8 years!   And for what?  Starting wars based upon Weapons of Mass Destruction and other lies?  I wish the American people would have got something for their tax dollars instead of the endless occupation of Iraq, a country weary of our arrogant attempts to save them while blowing them away.

Hey, Graham, McCain, listen up!  Didn’t those extra 4 Trillion dollars you helped Bush add to our National Debt cause all the mess Obama’s trying to get us out of today?  Remember all the OFF-BUDGET borrowing and spending Bush did, supported by you, Senators Graham and McCain and other members of the Neocon mobsters posing as Congressmen during most of Bush’s tedious 8 years of infamy?  Remember how the Bush gang gave out no-bid contracts to their corporate cronies for campaign contribution favors?  You remember them, the war corporation bubbas that all ate supper before they said Grace?  Halliburton not only charged us scalping prices for gasoline in Iraq, but they never delivered those $40 million dollars of mystery meals to the troops, you remember, the ones we paid Halliburton for?  And take Blackwater.  Puhlese (Iraqis might give you a high-five on that account).  What country has this US of A become when we allow a president to pay a PRIVATE armed militia ONE BILLION DOLLARS for services rendered?  And dude, that’s only counting 2007!  And by now in 2009, wonder how many more BILLIONS Blackwater mercenaries have collected from the American taxpayer for services rendered, including taking target practice at unarmed Iraqi citizens?  Maybe THREE BILLION?  Graham and McCain, you are nothing but binary villains who are greasy cogs in the gears of that crony war corporation, pork-spending Mafia, so don’t act so innocent when you point the finger at Obama. You’re both greasier ‘n fried lard!  I know when the light gets shined on you about how you helped Bush blow an eternal hole in our National Treasury, it must hurt your eyes.  I know it must be hard for you to admit that you are the core cause of the 8-year-Bush romp on America that Obama is trying to correct.  When without shame, you both turn right around and condemn Obama’s attempts to correct Bush’s unconscionable borrowing and spending you both supported and enabled every step of the way.  Shame on you both.  If truth were trousers maybe the two of you should hoof it on down to Walmart and buy a pair quick and stop runnin’ around butt nekked and showing your asses!

“Little Big Man” was a great movie.  Old Lodge Skins, played by Chief Dan George, was a Nes Pers chief who delightfully referred to himself and his people as the ‘Human Beings.’  It was one of the finest of movies of 1970 when the world was gearing up to embrace a brave new world of computers, data, and other forms of dehumanization.  In describing the world to his newly adopted son, Little Big Man, played by Dustin Hoffman, the chief’s words moved me:  “Do you see this fine thing? Do you admire the humanity of it? Because the human beings, my son, they believe everything is alive. Not only man and animals. But also water, earth, stone. And also the things from them... like that hair. The man from whom this hair came, he's bald on the other side, because I now own his scalp! That is the way things are. But the white man, they believe EVERYTHING is dead. Stone, earth, animals. And people! Even their own people! If things keep trying to live, white man will rub them out. That is the difference.”

It’s obvious that Chief Lodge Skins looked beyond the material universe.  He was about being, not taking.  Perhaps America would be a better place had the white man not set foot on its shores.  Today every square inch of water is laden with Mercury atoms.  These coal-fired byproducts have spewed out into the air forever, it seems, covering the earth and water with their toxic presence.  Energy companies will tell you straight out that if they had not been allowed to pollute the waterways, the fish, and the land by generating electricity with cheap coal, our lives would not have been as convenient and as efficient.

President Obama has glorious plans for green energy.  With luck and serious implementation, many new jobs will be created.  We will see solar breakthroughs, wind-driven megawatt machines, and hopefully, new nuclear power plants to provide us and the rest of the world with new sources of clean energy.  With our technology we should be able to construct massive arrays of solar panels and windmills in the thousands of acres of badlands of West Texas to Arizona where only Gila Monsters and scorpions live.  Going north from there the wind corridor extends all the way up to the Canadian border.  We lost our way in clinging to fossil fuels, but now Nature demands that we clean up our act.  In so doing, chances are quite good that we will clean up our water and air, too, with wind and sun-powered machines.  With any luck we should be able to power not only the United States but the rest of the world, too.

President Obama is committed to our cleaning up our energy act, and in so doing, our part of the planet.  He has been in office only one month.  Already, the detractors, the Lindsey Grahams, the John McCains, and the Rush Limbaughs have begun their negative criticisms.  I think they should shut up and give Obama a chance.  They had their turn for 8 years and blew it.  They continued to support the smokestack industries for the big money.  Where were they when it really counted?  So why not give Obama an honest go and support him toward such noble ends?  After all, haven’t the Neocons failed miserably?  We are still dependent on foreign oil which means we are occupying foreign countries where war is an ongoing quagmire.  The Energy Department policies of George W. Bush have us standing in line with our hand out for foreign oil at manipulated prices by OPEC and other oil-producing countries and organizations who do not wish us well.  CO2 emissions have been the by-product of smokestack industries that burn fossil fuels.  In many parts of the world air emissions are so severe that merely breathing the air has become risky to one’s health.  Wouldn’t the earth be a better place to live if the air and water were cleaner, world countries were hooked up to the United States green power grid, jobs grew by the millions, and the big bucks kept on rolling in?  And wars over oil became a thing of the past?  We need to grow up and give Obama a serious shot at it.  Can we pull it off?  Yes, we can.  So Lindsey and John, give it a rest.   TPJmagazine
