Well, you gotta love it. Before Obama even sits
down in the Oval Office, here come the Neocon sore-losers. This
writer, Drew Zahn, begins with a simply marvelous slop jar of hate in his
lovely, demonically-written partisan article by accusing Obama of
'stumbling' over the oath of office. Say what?! Hey, dude, we
all saw it on camera! Geez, Louise, any writer who says Obama
stumbled over his oath at the Inauguration when the whole world saw on camera
that it was Chief Justice Roberts' who blundered in administering the oath from
the get go, has got to have a greasy, hidden agenda. To blame Obama when
he was only trying to make sense out of Chief Justice Roberts' gibberish
and his apparent novice attempt to speak on such high
occasion is ludicrous and unfair. Pretty lame stuff. Roberts
looked like his knees were knocking together like two loose baseball bats
in a gunny sack slung over the shoulder of the Houston Astros' batboy.
Roberts blurted it out wrong, get it? So get over it. Everybody
knows, including all the cameramen in the world, and the reporters who wrote
the stories about the snafu know it was Roberts, not Obama, who blew it on properly
annunciating the oath of office words for Obama to repeat. So here
comes this article by Zahn. But hold up a minute. In fairness I
cannot say it is all Zahn’s doing. His piece was beautifully contrite and
exemplary of a battered Neocon journalist grasping at straws, all right. It had all the razor-slicing precision
of those who would attempt to discredit a fine feast by throwing a cow pie in
the punchbowl or in stinking up the place a la GOP Dirty Trick hall-of-famers,
Don Segretti, Karl Rove, and Lee Atwater. But you see, many versions of the Zahn article languish in
the darkest chambers of Google, morphed and spliced together with all the Obama
hate website URLs so characteristic of right-wing nutcase persuasions. Like, 'Stop the ACLU,' a smiling Obama
face with a Red X splattered across it, or websites oozing sleazy racial slurs
like, 'Obammy Snubs Vets.' You might want to click and view many
'Googled' variations of the article at the end of my article. Sheesh, I could not bear to put it at
the beginning. That might go over
like Obama appointing Dick Cheney to sit on the Supreme Court.
Here’s a late-minute scoop on Obama’s performance during the
Inaugural Ceremonies, thanks to my friend and fine columnist to The Political
Junkies magazine, Dr. Steve Jonas.
The record shows that of all the Inaugural Balls and Ceremonies and
activities, Obama did, in fact, attend the Enlisted Service Persons’ Ball. In addition (Now Hear This) Obama
arranged a magnificent teleconference with the troops in Iraq to make them feel
like a part of the whole ceremony and celebration. Like Americans.
Like our own who are not forgotten, forsaken, forever stop-gapped, and
alone. Although I am Navy, I got
to attempt to cut loose with my rendition of one of the finest expressions of
troop exuberance in the world and let out with the “Old Army” cheer: Hoooooooooooooaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!
It is amazing how early the crud crawls out with malicious
intentions of hornswaggling the good guys like Obama! It’s obvious that these detractors do not want to see
America repaired and regained. By
their tone it is no secret that they attempt to trash the new President before
his first day in office. We
elected Obama instead of the same old crooks to high places in government,
didn’t we?! So here they come
trying to discredit Obama as someone who shortchanges Veterans by snubbing them
at an inaugural ball? Let’s talk turkey. Why don't we wait and see
if Obama trashes Veterans funding programs like the Bush administration
did for the past 8 years? Under Bush and his Republican Congress, in
January of 2003, the door was slammed shut forever on any new Veterans who
wanted and needed to apply for health benefits at the VA if you were a
Category 8. I know, because I got in under the wire, just before the door
slammed shut. But my friends and fellow soldiers and
sailors who served same time I did in Viet Nam, but who did not
apply before the door slammed shut, have been turned away by our own
nation for the past 6 years because Bush needed the money to spend on wars
and occupation based upon Weapons of Mass Destruction that did not exist.
Over a million Veterans, betrayed (count 'em).
And we all read about the horrors of how Vets were treated
at Walter Reed Hospital under Obama's predecessor, Bush II. And those of
us who watched saw Obama's courageous vote on correcting that atrocity against
our Vets, know Obama to be a hero, a champion of Veterans' causes and funding
Veterans’ bills. Zahn's article below says show some 'RESPECT'
whether you agree or disagree. Gag me with a spoon! You could have
knocked me over with Bush’s 92 IQ! Zahn’s piece is chocked full of
disrespectful talking points of Obama opponents for the past
several years, like the use of "Hollywood elite" and other worn-out
clichés designed to demonize and to misrepresent anything not of the Newt
Gingrich, Grover Norquist brand of Neoconservatism. All 'respect' went
out the window when Zahn slanted it using lame word associations and
all-too-familiar, Red Neck talking points of the GOP and the nutcases to
the right of the Republican Party. Dude! Who got crushed last
election for, among other things, opting for tax cuts for the rich and funding
foreign wars of occupation in other nations (off budget) while trashing
funding for Veterans programs? You think we enlightened new Americans
fell off a turnip truck? Check out the real Veteran snubbers and
cutters here
I say, show some respect for our new president, Barack
Obama, and not condemn and disrespect him for the wrong reasons. Why
listen to the same old Neocon political hacks and their worn-slap-out rhetoric
when they lost the last election not by a landslide but by a colossal world
event that seemed more like a collision with the moon?! If Barack
Obama did not attend the Medal of Honor Ball, perhaps it was because his
aides screwed up and did not see to it that he did not miss it, not because he
is against the Veterans and their cause. I think Obama would have
attended had it not been an unfortunate oversight. And I believe that he
regrets not going. But his respect for Veterans and our Heroes shows
best when we put the spotlight on his voting record and how each time
he has ponied up to support us Vets like on the ultimate
test: when the green hits the mahogany. We know that McCain
voted against extra funding for Veterans programs all those years he was a
Senator, at least those Veterans among us who cared to check out his voting
record, know. And as for George W. Bush, former Commander In Chief, well
we all got to see who he really was under the spotlight and I'm sure it hurt
his eyes on more than one occasion. He shortchanged the Vets at every
turn. Including hiring Blackwater Mercenaries to supplement our fighting
men and women in uniform. And to show how much Bush thought about our
Vets he paid his secret Blackwater soldiers 6 times more money than
our uniformed servicemen make. And that still goes on to this
day; hopefully that is on the A List of things Obama will correct.
Bush has a history of going AWOL, but he went AWOL with the Vets,
too. Just like he went AWOL for real when he skipped out
on attending his mandatory Texas Air Guard Reserve drills when
the Viet Nam War raged and all us other Americans without as much
pedigree, got drafted.
Those of us who checked out Obama's voting record know that
he has supported Veterans each time a vote was taken,
AND he was always present for a major vote when McCain was not.
For the short time Obama had been a Senator. So in all due 'RESPECT'
give Obama a chance and judge him, not on the superficial, phony lame attempts
to discredit him before he's even begun as President of the United
States. Be suspicious of those who make a ruckus about what
inaugural ball he attended or not. Hold your horses and see if he
continues to put our money where his mouth is when it comes to funding our
Veterans’ programs or on bringing freedom to faraway countries like Iraq.
The national Treasury, the purse, is where it the spotlight really hits
the candidates who step up to the plate for Veterans. Not the Inaugural
Balls they attend or not. So lame, so stupid. With all due
'RESPECT' (emphasis on 'due'). No wonder the writer asks that the piece
of garbage be circulated all over the world, but with no attachments or
comments, puhleese. The article cannot stand the light when held up to it,
get it? Sorry, but the 'respect' due the piece does not allow such a
miscarriage of truth. And I doubt that my comments will be circulated
with it. Don’t think they could stand it.
