Michael Faulkner has been writing a two-weekly column, Letter from the U.K.,
for TPJ since July 2007. He worked for many years as a lecturer in
history and political science at Barnet College of Further Education in
London. He is a specialist in modern European history, particularly
German history. He has published articles on aspects of Soviet, German
and Latin American history in British journals and in the U.S. Monthly
Review. He has travelled widely in Europe, the United States and Latin
America. In the 1980s he pursued research into post-World War Two
German history at the Humboldt University in Berlin. He is married and
lives in London. He has two adult daughters, one of whom lives in
Guatemala. The other is married to a U.S. citizen and lives in London.
He has one grand-daughter
