How pleasant it would be to
lay yesterday aside in order to move on to a brighter tomorrow – like storing
the winter wardrobe to make room for more cheerful summer-wear. Recently I
found myself packing my anti-Bush / anti-war T-shirt collection as if that
simple act would bring resolution to all the problems caused by the hated
regime. Out of sight; out of mind.
But the beat goes on. For
some reason, Dick Cheney is refusing to follow tradition by fading into the
background to make room for the new administration. And I don’t believe Cheney’s
motive is as pure and elementary as legacy spinning. He has a messianic complex
somewhat like his former boss’; so any veering from the divinely-inspired
policies of the 43rd by the 44th is met with swift
resistance. You see, “God” is exclusively on Bush-Cheney’s side; so Cheney has
to go public lambasting the heresy of discontinuing the “God-sanctioned”
mission of torture, illegal surveillance, pre-emptive wars, and other such
noble “Christian” deeds.
During the Bush era,
mainstream media was susceptible to Rove's plants, especially after 9/11. That’s
where Karl Rove’s machinations flourished. He exploited the press more handily
than he had done in Texas 20 years earlier (planting a listening device in his
office, then calling an FBI pal and the press to imply his client’s opponent
running for Texas governor had done it). Any report losing credibility is a Rove
victory – even when Rove planted the false lead.
Recall how Dan Rather
impulsively ran with forged documents faxed CBS? Rather lost his job over
it. Rove’s fingerprints were all over this case which had the effect to
exonerate Bush from his National Guard AWOL rumors and to finish Rather off as
a bonus. The text and content of the documents were accurate – confirmed by
TANG secretary, Mrs.
Marian Carr Knox, who typed them 32 years prior.
But she also reported the 2004 "re-creations" were not done on her
old typewriter.
That was enough for the RNC
and Rove to run with and discredit the entire account about Bush deserting the
Guard during a time of war. Millions then bought into the perception George
Bush served his entire tour, when in actuality he didn't and was AWOL 15-18
months – lost his flying license and disciplined for refusing a medical
(along with his pal James R. Bath of the BinLaden connection). Karl Rove foresaw
the effect. It was a
highly-calibrated plant. Media should have known the risk in falling prey to Rove’s
manipulation. Did they not study Rove’s history?
Progressives should not be
cheered by recent events; they only serve to indicate imminent danger. Chrysler
failed, GM is bankrupt, and 10 million jobs may be lost as the domino-effect
rolls across the country. A historic economic decline is upon us; at this
late-stage it matters not who’s in power. Americans have short memory-spans
which makes the country ripe for a resurgence from the right which will blame
the poor economy on Obama’s 150 day-administration.
The pattern is what should be
studied; not today’s events alone. Temporary waves are not accurate predictors
of the future, but underlying currents are. The fate of GM is big enough to
classify “climate,” not simply a cold-snap. The saying still holds true: “As GM
goes, so goes the nation.” Although the depression was already in full-bloom
during (and because of) the last administration, rightwingers might succeed in
pinning it on the successor.
As a child, I was puzzled how
the wind would blow one direction while a massive front would approach from
another. Predicting weather is done by studying patterns. Climate is a broader
picture than weather, the same for studies of world movements. It requires
broad perspective and the desire to go beyond the now.
Consider the right-wing
movement's power behind the power. What are its aims?
1) To reshape America in the
form it held during the Robber Baron Era – without social programs,
insignificant union power, and corrupt moguls maneuvered to have wealth
concentrated in the hands of the ruling class. In essence, when its aims are
complete, the finished product will mean the reinstitution of slavery. If the
movement cannot outsource American industry, it leaves the borders open for
illegals to snatch up what jobs remain... at lower and lower wages. NAFTA,
CAFTA, and all other such trade agreements are simply methods to destroy the
middle-class, abolish collective bargaining, and uproot the nation's economic
base. Bush abandoned international treaties which protect us and embraced
international treaties which harm us. Without question, he laid the framework
for depression and defeat.
2) To remold America into a
military empire where outsourced mercenary forces will do the bidding of the
ruling elite by subduing competitive nations (and destroying them if they defy
America's superiority). Read PNAC's
documents thoroughly.
They are far more shocking
than described. Nations that even hint of competing against America commercially
are to be attacked preemptively – according to PNAC. So, even if a particular
country does not have a substantial military but competes against the U.S. economically,
the Bush administration claimed it reserved the right to take them out
militarily. Specifically, read en toto the PNAC report “Rebuilding
America’s Defenses” published one-year prior
to 9/11/01 – and four months before Bush assumed office.
Notice Bush's China policy.
As long as Red China furnishes American corporations slave labor and cheap
products, they are fine. However, little Communist Cuba was different; Castro (and
his brother following) refused to open their island-country to sweat shops and
prison labor to appease corporate giants to the North. Thus, Cuba was shut out.
Haiti experienced a coup d'etat, compliments of Bush, simply because its
democratically-elected government refused to allow child labor for textile
crony companies. The truth about all these matters is stranger than fiction. The
evil resided in Washington, not Havana, Caracas, Port au Prince, or Beijing. Because
of external pressures (failures in Iraq, etc.), PNAC disbanded. However, the movement
behind Project for a New
American Century (PNAC) is still functioning
and is the most disgusting, anti-Christian cult ever to exist in our history.
3) To use whatever means
(legal & illegal) to subvert democracy in the U.S.; to undermine opponents;
to thoroughly politicize the Justice Department; to “suicide” key potential
witnesses; to arrange small plane crashes; to hack voting machines &
counting systems; to harass and intimidate minority voters; to obstruct justice;
to carry out assassinations – both real and character; to frame the
opposing party as "unpatriotic," "non-Christian," and
"un-American"; to trick the nation into one-party rule so their other
agenda items can proceed unimpeded.
The sanctioning of torture,
the dismissing of legal rights, the permanent lock-up of detainees without
charge and access to legal counsel, the implementation of the Patriot Act, the
suppression of free speech.... All of these are symptoms of the overall
movement still alive even after the arrival of Obama.
These acts form the pattern
that opens the window to prediction. They are not simple waves, but currents.
They are not sideline issues, but tangible products of a large movement unnoticed
by the ordinary citizen – symptoms of a chronic disease that is killing
this nation. It is fascism – perhaps streamlined in a more palatable version,
but fascism nonetheless.
At the head of this movement in-exile
are Richard Cheney and Rush Limbaugh – the first being the real power
behind Bush, the second anointed the national spokesman. Karl Rove is the
political guru behind the movement's rise to power. Without his deceptions,
dirty tricks, lies and outsourced subversive surrogates, Pandora America
wouldn't be where it is today. Karl Rove initiated "Swift-Boat Veterans
for Truth." Rove instigated the smear campaign against John McCain in
South Carolina in 2000; against Max Cleland in Georgia 2002; redistricting
Texas and recalling in California. Karl Rove was also instrumental in selling
the Iraq War and was key in timing terror and war events to fit the broader political
agenda.
There are many more
characters in the movement who served despicable roles: Ralph Reed, Tom DeLay,
Paul Wolfowitz, Richard Perle, John Bolton, Bill Kristol, Newt Gingrich,
Scooter Libby – about 200 white men in all, neocons and religious con-men,
including all members of PNAC, AEI, and a few from Carlyle Group. And let's not
forget the roles of billionaires Richard Mellon Scaife and Rupert Murdoch –
who funded and founded the right-wing "think-tanks" and
"news" fronts which seeded false information that gave rise to the
movement. They are bitter, angry white men with an agenda to push us back to
the Dark Ages. And they’re not through with their mission after Obama’s rise.
Cheney still assumes the role as de facto president, obviously.
Watch headlines for more
confirmation of what is herewith described and, possibly, America’s first coup
d’etat in coming days. The power behind the movement which brought America down
has not accomplished its “mission.” So, be vigilant; pay attention.
